Energy Forum Zambia Happy With Recently Approved Energy Policies

By Balewa Zyuulu

The Energy Forum Zambia is happy with the recently approved energy policies aimed at enhancing the viability of the energy sector in Zambia.

Forum Chairperson Johnstone Chikwanda has told phoenix news in an interview that among the major reforms enshrined in the new energy reforms bill of 2019 is the promotion of mini hydro power projects as they contribute to the reduction of energy crisis.

Mr Chikwanda says the proposed energy reforms which are yet to be taken to parliament are in line with demands of the United Nations sustainable development goal number 7 which calls for universal access to clean, affordable and sustainable energy by 2030.

He has however indicated that for all these reforms to yield positive results, participation of the private sector is key.
