Elite Ladies set price tag for Xiomara Mapepa

FAZ Women’s Super Division side Elite Ladies have put a price tag on their star player Xiomara Mapepa. 

Elite Ladies took to Social Media to confirm the development. Elite are open to bids for the left footed wing wizard as long they start from $10,000. 

Elite went on to reveal that the player was told that she is free to leave anytime should an acceptable offer come through. 

“Like any Elite Ladies players, Mapepa is available to other clubs who want to buy her. We are a social-enterprise. And so she has never been blocked from leaving our club. Never.  Player sales are one way to sustain operations especially when they are at a premium. In fact we even took her for trials in Sweden where she was not successful and we are currently discussing possible deals for her,” Elite Ladies said. 

“The player was told last month that she can leave any time we have an acceptable offer. Unfortunately most approaches she gets are illegal tappings especially from local clubs that have no transfer fee offers to the club but speak to her directly. Any clubs that want her, either local or abroad, can make the offer to us and we shall evaluate. However, she is not available for free nor for cheap. We are talking about offers above USD 10,000 here.”

This is in response to an interview where Mapepa accused the team of blocking her move away with her saying she had several offers. 

Mapepa missed the Elite Ladies trip to Chipata on the weekend and the club came out to say she dropped out of the trip without a reason at the last minute and did not train all week. 

Mapepa came out to defend herself against the claims in an interview with Wami Katanga.

Mapepa has been the top goalscorer in the FAZ Women’s Super Division in the last two seasons and was also an important part of the Copper Queens’ WAFCON 2022 campaign.
