Electorate In Kitwe Bemoan Lack Of Voter Education Barely 2 Weeks To The August Polls

By Michael Kaluba

Some electorates in Kitwe district on the Copperbelt have bemoaned the lack of voter education by the Electoral Commission of Zambia-ECZ- and other relevant organizations barely 2 weeks to the 12th August general elections leaving many Zambian citizens without information about the electoral process.

In a random interview in Kitwe, some of the members of the public have wondered how much voter education has been done in far flung areas such as Shang’ombo and Kaputa if easily accessible areas such as Kitwe have witnessed little to no voter education.

Some voters believe more should be done by the Electoral Commission of Zambia-ECZ-, political parties and other relevant organizations to educate the electorate in various parts of the country who are believed to be starved of electoral information.

The Kitwe residents from Kwacha, Chimwemwe, and Kamfinsa constituencies, 3 out of the 5 constituencies in Kitwe say they have not witnessed any voter education in their area and are of the view that the electorate has little information over the elections with very little time before the poll day.
