ECZ Removes ‘Ghost’ Voters From Voter’s Roll

zambia-votes-electionThe Electoral Commission of Zambia has in a rare feat struck off five people from the voter register following complaints from members of the public.

According to ECZ public relations officer Chris Akufuna the five de-registered voters were struck off following reasons as varied as being under age and being a foreigner.

The individuals are Elias Mwewa, Vitalis Muziya, Ethel Nchimunya, Killian Zulu and Joyce Kalumba.

Some stakeholders had raised issue with some of the people that had been registered to vote in the August elections general elections.

The Post Newspapers went as far as publish names of suspected Malawian nationals that were reportedly registered as voters.

Akufuna said investigations into the case of the Malawian nationals were still going on.
