ECZ reduces nomination fees
The Electoral Commission of Zambia has revised the nomination fees for the Aaugust 11, 2016 years General Elections.
The commission through its Public Relations Officer Cris Akufuna disclosed this in a press statement Saturday afternoon in Lusaka.
The Presidential nomination fee which was K75, 000.00 per candidate has been reduced to K60, 000.00. The parliamentary nomination fee has reduced to K7, 500.00 whilst Mayoral and Local government nomination fees have been revised to K5, 000.00 and K2, 000.00 respectively.
Akufuna said the reduction is necessitated after the electoral stakeholders engaged ECZ over the nomination fees. He said the change is final.
Earlier in the day Opposition FDD and UPND separately complained to the media against what they termed exorbitant fees during the ECZ Presidential Candidate briefing at Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka
