ECL, ZAMBIANS OBSERVE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER

President Edgar Lungu has joined many Zambians in observing the National Day of Prayer fasting, repentance and reconciliation.

The national event took place at the Showgrounds in Lusaka under the theme “Zambia seeks God’s intervention for Sustained National Unity, Peace and Prosperity.”

President Lungu who arrived at the venue at about 10 hours was accompanied by First Lady Esther.

Speaking during the event, organising committee Chairperson Joshua Banda called for peace and unity.

Bishop Banda said many are the times when people use insults especially during campaigns hence the need to repent.

He said Zambia has been blessed with peace and that there is need to maintain the status-quo

And speaking when he delivered his homily Catholic Priest Laston Lupupa acknowledged the work of successive Presidents who have continued honoring God.

Fr. Lupupa said the children of God should ensure they pray for people in leadership.

Meanwhile, Senior Chief Chipepo offered a prayer of confession and repentance on behalf of traditional leaders.

And Independent Churches of Zambia President David Masupa thanked God for his intervention and the many positives the country has scored while Jesus Anointed Ministries overseer Bishop Billy Mfula prayed for the country’s peace to be maintained.
