ECL should start from ward level – CHABINGA
By Paul Shalala
Patriotic Front Mafinga Member of Parliament ROBERT CHABINGA advised former President EDGAR LUNGU to start working from the Ward structures if he is to aspire to lead the former ruling party again.
Mr. CHABINGA says the PF constitution guides that when one resigns from the party structure, they have to wait for three years and start from the Ward.
He says Matero Member of Parliament MILES SAMPA who had left the PF at some point, was put on a three year waiting list for him to aspire for office.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. CHABINGA said the former President must follow the party rules and rise from the Ward to the national level.
Yesterday, the former President announced his return to active politics.
And Mr. CHABINGA has refuted assertions that the ruling UPND funded the recent PF Conference where Mr. SAMPA was elected party President.
Mr. CHABINGA said assertions by some PF members that the UPND and State House are behind Mr. SAMPA’s rise to power are false.
Meanwhile, Mr. CHABINGA has urged the Police to arrest anyone who will hold political events in the name of the Patriotic Front if they do not have the blessings of Mr. SAMPA.
He has also advised government to expedite the fight against corruption.
Mr. CHABINGA said the fight has taken too long without seeing corrupt people being jailed.
