Green Eagles Football Club have stormed the quarterfinals of the ongoing CECAFA Kagame Cup thanks to two goals to one win over Ugandan side Proline FC.

The Kawale Boys head Coach Aggrey Chiyangi attributed his teams win to the tactical dominance of the 4-4-2 formation he applied in contrast to the 3-5-2 formation employed by Proline.

“We realised that their formation would create lots of spaces as they depended so much on speed, So we capitalised on that and we are satisfied though we could have scored more goals,” Chiyangi said in a post-match press conference.

Green Eagles took an early lead in the 14th minute through Kennedy Musonda who later struck again in the 47th minute while Proline’s pressure paid off in the 52nd minute as Hakim Kiwanusi pulled one back but that was not enough to stop the Eagle from flying high and booking a quarter-final spot against Kenyan heavyweights Gor Marhia.
