“DRY SPELL THREAT TO FOOD SECURITY”

Minister in the Office of the Vice President Sylvia Chalikosa says the dry spell which has hit some parts of Western Province will affect food security in the region.
Ms. Chalikosa has since called for a quick identification of households which have been affected.
She was speaking after touring fields whose crops have dried in Kalabo District.
The Minister who was accompanied by Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU- National Coordinator Chanda Kabwe assured the affected households that government will give them relief food.
And Mr. Kabwe said his unit will now invest heavily in research so that people can know which type of crops to grow in an advent of drought or floods.
