Dr Kambwili Says Roan Educational Fund Delivers Chemical Engineer

Kambwili-DoraInformation minister Chishimba Kambwili has announced that through the Roan Educational Fund, his constituency is proud to have delivered a Chemical Engineer who gets a job in the United Arab Emirates’ commercial capital, Dubai.

Kamwbili says a young Zambian named Steven lost both parents and some seven years ago, he sought the assistance of the Roan constituency.

The minister, who is defending his Roan seat in the August 11 election, says the resident of Mpatamatu was helped through high school and later after obtaining seven points at Grade 12, he was sponsored to go to Malaysia.

Kamwbili says the effort of his constituency has finally yielded fruit with Steven completing his degree in Chemical Engineering.

BELOW IS DR KAMBWILI’S NARRATION

Away from politics

2016 has been a great year so far on a personal note, I am certain we will win the upcoming elections too. The best news thus far came a few hours ago when a young man from Mpatamatu in Roan constituency gave me a call on a foreign number.

I met Steven 7 years ago when both his parents passed away one after the other, he was worried about continuing his education and I told him not to worry because his MP is still alive. Steven joined our unique Roan Constituency education fund and he completed his secondary education with 7 points. His grades impressed me and we found donors to sponsor him for university in Malaysia. He studied chemical engineering and got his degree early last year

When Steven left for Malaysia he was a vulnerable kid with the world at his feet, through hard work and support he has made a life for himself. Steve called me this evening and told me he has landed a high paying job in Dubai due to his high grades. It’s always pleasing to see that our Roan constituency educational fund makes a difference in people’s lives and Steven is just one of thousands that have gone through our system.

I will share pictures of Stevens new life if he gives me permission to, for now I just wanted to share that story with you. In life it does not matter how many challenges you face, if you have the right people around you the world is your oyster

Congratulations to Steven and we thank God for his mercies.

We currently have 3000 students on the fund and we are working on an initiative which will see young men and women from Roan Constituency through primary, secondary and tertiary education.
