Zesco Victorian Falls 0 – 1 Zesco Shockers

Ten Man Zesco Shockers edged Zesco Victoria Falls by a lone goal in an all electric affair. The openning exchanges proved to be a vital affair although Vic Falls looked more threating especially every time with Joe ‘Nani’ Mwiya and Ignitious Muleya got on the ball on the wings.

The home side nealy broke the deadlock in the 5th minute as Muleya conbined well with Mwiya forcing the goalkeeper into a fine save from the eadge of the area. However shockers took the lead just 10 minutes into the game from a corner kick as vic falls defenders failed to clear and Major made no mistake from close range to gift the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Spinning turbines were awarded a free kick in the promising area in the 18th minute and Mwiya placed it over the cross bar. The Moses “Parker” Lungu coached side grew in confidence as the match progressed and they had a chance to add a second 10 minutes to halftime but Musonda was alert in goal.

Mwiya had another chance to draw level but again volleyed his effort over the crossbar with just the goalkeeper to beat. Shockers suffered a big blow after their defender was given matching orders for a second bookable offence. The hosts should have scored just before halftime with the shockers defence exposed but Mwiya’s goal bound effort hit the side netting.

Zesco Vic Falls were the better team after the restart and shockers keeper was the busier of the two as it was all Vic falls attack after attack and shockers just parked the bus with midfielder Humphrey Kabinga at the base in dip six covering the shockers diffence.

Shockers managed to survive a late surge from the homeside to hold on to their one nil lead tor the three points and keep it in touch with Young Green Eagles.
