DIVISION ONE ZONES AFTER WEEK 10

Its becoming hot in the Zones

Division One Zones entered week 10 in the mid-week with the league tables in all the four zones shaping up with what could be called shock results in other zones while others look expected. Bwezani gives you the roundup of the happenings in all the zone as of week 10.

ZONE ONE

National Assembly and Young Green Buffaloes are locked on 22 points though National Assembly lead on goal difference. Assembly will also feel they have an advantage over their town mates having a game in hand which could easily take them to 25 points, three better than Young Green Buffaloes.

The Kenneth Malitoli tutored side managed a point in his first game against Police College and will be looking for an improved performance going forward.

The trend of Eastern province teams in the Zone keeps continuing with three of the bottom five involving teams from the Eastern part of the country.

ZONE TWO

What was expected to be an easy run for Nchanga Rangers is proving to be a nightmare with the team demoted from the Super League last season struggling to keep pace with Gomes and Kansanshi Dynamos who look to be heading into a two horse race in the Zone.

Gomes lead on 23 points, two better than Kansanshi Dynamos though you cannot rule out FQMO, Trident and Indeni who are just three points off Kansanshi Dynamos. Just as expected, Zone Two is proving the most competitive zone with no clear favorite after 10 weeks of busy football.

ZONE THREE

I tend to believe this will be a race between ZAMBEEF and Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy. At the close of Week 10, KYSA lead with four clear points against ZAMBEEF and the consistent team will take the zone without a doubt.

The surprise position still stands to be Real Nakonde who are 11th on 11 points but we all know that this is due to the five games they stayed away from playing. It will be a huge ask to ask them to get promotion without those possible 15 points.

Can they do the impossible? Only time will tell.

ZONE FOUR

The Mongu outfit which is an academy of ZESCO United in ZESCO Shockers are the surprise leaders of Zone Four after 10 games and they look good going forward. They are a point above Young Green Eagles who are also an academy of Super League Team Green Eagles. A story of leading and not getting to super league because of them being academies of teams already in the Super League.

That will be serious motivation to teams following closely like Kascol Rangers of Mazabuka who are one point below Young Green Eagles and actually this will keep motivating the teams like Maramba Stars and Mumbwa Medics following closely.

SUMMARY

Already affected with a number of walk overs, it goes to say the teams in these zones especially Zones Three and Four, may not be ready to play Division One in its current format. You would wonder the stiff competition hampered by Walk Overs which other clubs believes they are made up.

Take note that promotion to the Super League will be dependent to the winner of the play offs with all winners of the four zones at the end of the season.

The top four teams in each zone are assured of qualifying to the proposed National Division One while all teams from 5th to 16th will be dropped into the FAZ organized Provincial Division One.

Look out for Week 11 coming up this weekend.
