Division 1: Kabwe Youth & Young Buffaloes look to extend leads

Its a race for different tidings

The race for the two slots in the Super League from 64 teams continues this mid week as teams in the four zones battle it out for different objectives.

There isn’t any favorite yet in all zones but you can have an indication that Zone three looks to have a two horse race between Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy and ZAMBEEF while the other three Zones (1,2 and 4) look to have a lot of drama each match day that passes.

Here are the picks in all zones as we heard to week seven.

ZONE ONE

There is three points difference between leaders Young Green Buffaloes (YGBFC) and second placed National Assembly heading to the mid week games while Romeki are four points away from the leaders on 12 points .

There are three teams below that are chasing on 11 points making the race for National Division One tight as the top four at the end of the season are guaranteed of qualifying for National Division One slated for August 2019.

Young Green Buffaloes will take on Lusaka City Council (LCC) with the two clubs having two objectives. YGBFC will be hoping to maintain leadership of the zone while LCC will be hoping for an opportunity of breaking into the top four. YGBFC are yet to lose a game while Lusaka City Council have already lost one and drawn two in the last six games. This will be an interesting tie.

National Assembly will watch with interest as a loss by YGBFC coupled with a win by National Assembly against Paramilitary this Wednesday and the Parliamentarians may just go above young soldiers on goal difference .

ZONE TWO

There is an assumption believed by many that Zone Two is the most competitive zone in Division One and the start of the 2019 season can just start confirming that assumption.

Seven teams will be fighting for top slot on Wednesday, 27th February 2019 as the teams clash in the zone in pursuit of that one slot to the super league play off at the end of the season.

Five teams are on 11 points with the sixth and seventh on 10 points and all the 7 points have a serious realistic chance of ending at league leader after week seven encounters this mid week.

League Leaders Kansanshi Dynamos will be involved in Solwezi derby against Kalumbila Quatro while second placed Gomes, beaten last weekend will hope of the three points against a Manda based ZNS Luapula in Ndola.

5. Konkola Blades FQMO Mining Operation

6. Kalulushi Modern Stars Nchanga Rangers

7. Indeni Chingola Leopards

8.Roan United Chambishi

ZONE THREE

There is a big game in Chisamba as ZAMBEEF host Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy in what looks to be the two favourite of this zone to battle it for the play off slot to the super league.

KYSA who have okayed a game more than ZAMBEEF are leading the Zone with five points better off than the host in this one who are sending and have 13 points , same with Mpulungu Harbour. Should KYSA pick an away victory in Chisamba, they shouldn’t be blamed to be thinking they will make it out of this zone. ZAMBEEF without a doubt will be seen as one of those favourites but to lose a home game to their close rivals , will clearly state the difference in ambitions of these two teams.

It will also be interesting to see if Real Nakonde will have their first travells of the season as they date Kabwe Rangers in central province . They picked up three points in a walk over the past weekend and the big question will have to wait for Real Nakonde is to see if they will still have the mandate of playing in this zone after staying away continuous for five games.

ZONE FOUR

League Leaders straight from picking a point away to Choma Football Stars welcome Kascol Rangers unbeaten too so far. These two sides are among the three which includes Zesco Shockers yet to test defeat in zone four and this is a big rest for both.

Maramba Stars are jointly positioned on 14 points with Zesco Shockers and Kascol Rangers are two point below and a win here for Kascol , they get the top slot if Zesco Shockers is to lose at home to Mumbwa Medics.
