The Drug Enforcement Commission -DEC has re-arrested former State House Spokesperson AMOS CHANDA and former Road Transport and Safety Agency Chief Executive Officer ZINDABA SOKO for corrupt practices by a public officer and money laundering.

The re-arrest follows the nolle prosequi which was entered by the Director of Public Prosecutions on the two in 2020.

DEC Public Relations Officer MATTHIAS KAMANGA says the two between August 2017 and May 2019 engaged in corrupt practices.

In a statement to ZNBC News this evening, Mr KAMANGA says Mr CHANDA was allegedly paid 106 thousand dollars in his personal account, while Mr SOKO was allegedly paid 110 thousand dollars as gratification by WALID EL NAHAS, a Director for Intelligent Mobility Solutions -IMS.

The payment followed the award of a concession agreement for the provision of advanced Road Safety Management Solutions and Services through a Public Private Partnership.

Mr KAMANGA says Mr CHANDA and Mr SOKO have been charged for money laundering involving the amount they each received.

IMS is the company which was running speed cameras.
