De Agosto Arrive in Zambia

Green Eagles Football Club’s opponents, Primeiro De Agosto of Angola, are in the country for this Saturday’s CAF Champions League first round, first leg pre-group stage match.The TAAG Airlines plane carrying the 44-man delegation touched down at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at 19:20 hours yesterday.Speaking upon arrival, Agosto Coach Dragan Jovic said his team’s aim is to get into the CAF Group stages.He added that he had an opportunity to watch the home and away games that Eagles played against South African side Orlando Pirates and that he has insight of the Zambia National Service (ZNS) sponsored style of playing.JOVIC said he is impressed with Eagles defensive and transitional play.He however said the philosophy of.the club is always to win games whether home or away and that the team was in Zambia for a win.Meanwhile Agosto captain Massunguna Alex Afonso says Zambia has good players who have and still continue to play in Europe and the African continent.He singled out former Chipolopolo midfielder Ian Bakala who is now coach for Lusaka Dynamos as one of the players who had good performances while on the books of Agosto.To get this stage of the competition, Eagles ejected Pirates on a 2-1 goal aggregate while Agosto kicked out KMKM of Zanzibar 4-nil on aggregate.
