DC abandoned on Lunga island

CIVIL servants have deserted the island district of Lunga in Luapula Province, leaving District Commissioner Elias Pengele virtually alone to attend to all administrative duties.
Mr Pengele said in an interview yesterday that all the civil servants, including heads of Government departments, have left the island, leaving only him and the buildings officer.
“They have all ran away, there is nobody here. I am just alone with the buildings officer,” he said.
The officers who have deserted work include heads of Government departments and their support staff working under the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Community Development, Forest department, Ministry of Labour, ZANIS, Veterinary department and Forest department.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
