COVID-19: GOVT PREACHES ADHERENCE

Local Government Minister Charles Banda has taken a swipe at people who are secretly selling beer  in some drinking places in Lusaka.This is despite bars, casinos, nightclubs being ordered to close for 14 days in wake of the pandemic.Dr. Banda said this when he made an impromptu visit to Chilulu and Garden Markets in Lusaka.He explained that the fight against the coronavirus cannot be won if some people are defying measures instituted by government.Dr. Banda, who was accompanied by officials from the ministry advised the public to conduct a citizen’s arrest on bar owners defying government efforts against COVID-19.Meanwhile, Dr. Banda said the Ministry hopes the corporate world can help have public places such as markets disinfected.The Minister was speaking when he and his Energy counterpart, Mathew Nkhuwa demonstrated by cleaning BH market in Lusaka this morning.At the same function, ZESCO Management donated some hand washing dishes and several sanitizers to BH Market authorities in view of coronavirus pandemic.Zambia has so far recorded 29 confirmed cases of Covid-19.
