COVID-19: CURIO BUSINESS AFFECTED

By Moombe Hamoobola:

Curio traders at the Victoria Falls Curio Market in Livingstone are making losses as a result of selling curios at cheap prices due to the Covid-19 impact on tourism.

One of the traders, Nguni Malumo has told ZNBC news that products that used to fetch for more than two hundred Kwacha are now selling as low as twenty Kwacha just to survive.

Another Curio trader Chrispin Mubila has said he is feeling the harsh blow of the travel restrictions because foreign tourists who are the main customers for curios are no longer there.

Mr. Mubila is appealing to the government to empower curio traders with capital so that they can diversify to other businesses.

And Bonaventure Siloka has urged the government to look at the plight of traders in curios.
