Covid-19 cases on the rise in three schools

Health Minister SYLVIA MASEBO says there is a rise in Covid-19 cases at Kapiri Mposhi Girls Technical School in Central province.

Ms. MASEBO also says other schools affected are Chisamba Boarding in Central Province and Nchelenge Secondary in Luapula Province.

The Minister told the National Assembly that as of March 5, 2024, a total of 137 learners tested positive for Covid-19 in the three schools.

She said government through the Ministry of Health has taken measures by increasing surveillance in all schools, isolating infected students in designated spaces.

Meanwhile, Ms MASEBO said the multi -sectoral and multi-disciplinary response system has intensified COVID 19 surveillance aimed at controlling the spread of the disease.

She said this is after observing a number of Covid-19 cases in the year 2024.
