COVID-19: CASES KEEP SURGING

The country has continued to see acceleration in Covid-19 cases with 1-Thousand 7-hundred and 96 cases recorded out of 9-thousand, 5-hundred and 77 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

Health Minister Jonas Chanda says a total of 1-Thousand and one recoveries have been recorded, with 10 deaths documented in the last 24 hours.

Dr. Chanda says the country now stands at 36-Thousand and 74 cumulative cases from a total of 7-hundred and 58 thousand 8 hundred and 19 tests conducted.

He said in a statement that a 70 percent recovery rate has been attained as the nation stands at 25 thousand 1-Hundred and six recoveries.

Dr. Chanda said three hundred and twelve patients with COVID-19 are currently in admission with 2-hundred and two on oxygen therapy while 14 are critically ill across the 10 provinces.

He said the cumulative number of mortalities is now at 5 hundred and 37 with 2 hundred and three classified as COVID-19 deaths, 3 hundred and 31 COVID-19 associated deaths and three yet to be classified.

The Minister has further reiterated that in addition to the five prescribed measures, people should also utilize the local home-based and traditional remedies as the country continues to wrestle the pandemic.
