COVID-19: ADHERE TO SET GUIDELINES

March 29, 2020March 29, 20202By Ruth Chayinda:Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya says the Statutory Instruments 21 and 22  being enforced by government are meant to protect everyone from contracting and spreading the coronavirus.And Dr Chilufya says President Edgar Lungu has set a premium on ensuring that the disease is eliminated in the country.Dr. Chilufya says it is important for all citizens to adhere to the set guidelines to enable the country combat the coronavirus.Dr Chilufya said this during the Covid update briefing , where the Minister announced that the country has now recorded 29 cases of Coronavirus.The latest patient involves a Lusaka based man who travelled to Pakistan.Dr Chilufya said one of the 29 covid-19 patients is severally ill and on Oxygen support, while the other patients are stable.He explained that the patient has an underlying Chronic disorder.And Dr Chilufya said that Government is engaging their counterparts on how to  manage bilateral Agreements during the pandemic.He also advised various companies to emulate others who have opted to adhere to the set guidelines by the Government.Trucking companies are also advised to develop mechanism such as relay driving as a way of managing the flow of goods while protecting the truck drivers from contracting the virus.And Chief Government Spokesperson Dora Siliya said there is need for citizens to change their mindset and behavior during the period the world is faced with covid-19.Ms Siliya said it is important for citizens to stay home and protect themselves adding that it is key to ending the spread of the Corona-virus.
