The Permanent Secretary said government has also made arrangements with the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (Gavi) to get extra cold chain equipment, which will also be taken to the districts.

And Dr. Malama said government will use existing transport to deploy vaccines countrywide.

He said although there are gaps in transport, government is considering getting extra transport.

Dr. Malama also said government will train more health workers on how to administer the Covid vaccine.

In a separate interview, CIRDZ Chief Scientific Officer Roma Chilengi said vaccines are an important preventive tool against infectious diseases.

And a Virologist at the University of Zambia, School of Veterinary Medicine said the Covid vaccines will help break the chain of transmission as more people get vaccinated.
