COUNSEL ALL POLITICIANS – ECL

President Edgar Lungu has urged traditional leaders to provide counsel to all aspiring candidates from both the opposition and ruling party to live in harmony ahead of the August 12 general election.

President Lungu says traditional leaders should also counsel the youths against violence because the leaders are not fighting one another.

The head of state has also called on the traditional leaders to educate the people on the dangers of covid-19 so that they can take the necessary precautions to protect themselves against contracting the deadly disease.

President LUNGU also says the aspiring candidates should share their plans for the people in the area and not engage in violence.

He was speaking when he met senior Chief Mushota, Chief Chama and chief Munkanta in Kawambwa district ahead of the Green field 2000 maize harvesting.

The head of state also said Government is committed to advancing development to all parts of the country stating that he is aware of the benefits of connecting the chiefdom to electricity.

And Kawambwa District Chiefs and Traditional affairs officer who read a statement on behalf of the three chiefs Israel Kayoba said the chiefs appreciate Government’s development agenda in the district, further stating that it has changed chiefdoms.

Mr. Kayoba also commended Government for the current FRA price of buying maize saying it will increase the income of the farmers.

He also commended Government for early delivery of farming inputs stating that it has enabled the district to be food secure.

And Mr Kayoba has commended President Lungu for appointing a woman running mate which shows he appreciates the role of women in the governance of the country.
