Corruption fight go smart

….TIZ launches a safer online platform for corruption reporting

Lusaka (18-10-18) Transparency International – Zambian Chapter has launched an online corruption reporting platform that will enable members of the public to report corrupt practices from the comfort of their homes in real time.

Chapter Executive Director Wesley Chibamba told journalists during the launch held at Radisson Blu Hotel in Lusaka on Tuesday that corruption has become sophisticated and hence the decision by TIZ to devise a smart way of reporting corruption cases.p

Chibamba observed due to the complications of corrupt cases, some people were finding difficulties to lodge reports with the authorities.

With the launch of this platform, Chibamba explained, the people will have an opportunity to directly report not only corrupt practices but also incidents, including suspected cases of bribery to the authority through TIZ.

He assured that the system is sage and the people reporting cases are hundred percent protected by the system.

Chibamba further clarified that the corruption online reporting system is meant to enhance the way the country is handling corruption cases.

Chibamba also said its quest to rid of corrupt practices, his organisation was working to promote good governance by way of formulating legal policy and promoting systems that stop people from doing wrong things, including engaging the citizens not only to promote but also embracing accountability at every every level.

He said in collaboration with the system, TIZ will push the cases reported by the people to the relevant authority for action.

“The people need to be given the platform to access the services and reporting mechanism in the fight against corruption. TIZ does not only deal with corruption alone but also abuse of institutions.”

Speaking at the same function Annie Chewe said the fight against corruption is not am exclusive preserve of government through institutions created for same purpose.

Dr. Chewe who is also TIZ Member suggested that in order for the fight against graft to be won, there is need for everyone to get involved.

Dr Cheer also disclosed that the new innovation will help thw people to report corruption cases in real time without traveling long distances.

“It is for this reason that TIZ thought of coming up with a new system which will enable every on chance to report corruption cases either in government or in the private cases to the authorities from the comfort of their homes.”

She further clarified that the platform is designed for the people in far away place who may not have an opportunity to access the institutions in time as well as for those people who might be scared to report cases in person for fire of the consequences associated with the action

Similarly Anti-Corruption Commission Deputy Director General Rosemary Khuzwayo expressed gratitude that TIZ has come up with the online inovation to report suspected cases.

She her orgsnisation is more gratified that the country was now getting united in the fight against corruption.

“The commission has in the past received information from the people on corrupt practices in person. We hope that, the introduction of this online platform more people come up to report cases compared to the previous practices

Khuzwayo assured TIZ that the commission will continue partnering with key stakeholders, including TIZ in its effort to fight corruption in Zambia.

She urged members of the public to take advantage of innovations to expose corruption cases saying they will not regret they did.
