CATHERINE MUMBA and SAMANTHA SICHIVULA, Lusaka
A FEMALE traffic police officer yesterday fled a road checkpoint she and her three colleagues mounted on Mungwi Road after Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo found them receiving money from motorists without issuing receipts.Between 08:00 hours and 10:00 hours, the officers, who are based at Matero Police Station, had collected K2,250 from motorists, put the money in a plastic carrier bag and hid it in a police hat belonging to one of them.
Mr Lusambo, who was initially on his way to pay a courtesy call on Wonderful Group Company, made a turn when he saw one of the officers, Constable Charity Zuze, interrogating Hastings Muyembe, a motorist of Lusaka West.
Other officers who were found collecting the money were Sergeant Laban Bwalya and constables Moses Chiinga and Mukela Chibesa.http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
