The Zambia Women’s national team, The Copper Queens will break camp in midweek, This comes after COSAFA announced the change of dates for the tournament from the initial October 19th to early November.

Copper Queens head coach Bruce Mwape feels the change in the calendar will disturb the team preparations. Mwape believes this should lay the groundwork is preparing for the Copper Queens maiden appearance at the Olympics next year.

“Somehow it’s disturbing especially that the players have stayed without kicking a ball, It affects the team because this is supposed to be the start of preparation for the Olympics,” Mwape told the ZamFoot Crew in an interview this morning.

After the COSAFA tournament, The Copper Queens are expected to play Chile in an international friendly match and Mwape feels it will help the team a lot in terms of preparation for the Olympic games.

” It’s really an important game because it will change some of the player’s attitudes, We will play a serious team that has played in the Olympics before so it will be an eye-opener and our players will learn one or two things,” he said.

The 2020 COSAFA has set up a tentative calendar subject to the Covid-19 situation in the region that will see the tournament being played from November 4th -14th in Port Elizabeth.

Thereafter, the Copper Queens will shift their concentration to an International friendly match against Chile slated for 28th November and 2nd December 2020 in Santiago.
