Contractor Urged To Expedite Works On Zambezi Road

The Ministry of Local Government has urged the contractor working on Zambezi Road in Lusaka to expedite the works and finish on schedule.Local Government Permanent Secretary Bishop Ed Chomba says Build Trust Construction, the company contracted to work on both the road and the drainage must quickly finish the works in order to help decongest some roads in the city.Bishop Chomba urged the contractor not to use Covid-19 as an excuse to delay works adding that the road is of great importance to Lusaka residents.Bishop Chomba was speaking when he toured the construction works on Zambezi Road.He said although the road works done so far are impressive, he is disappointed with the works on the drainages and sidewalks.Bishop Chomba has since given Build Trust a two weeks ultimatum to redo the construction works failure to which  he will follow the guidelines in the contract on shoddy works.And a motorist Martin Chileshe said works on the road project have taken too long to be completed.Meanwhile, Build Trust Site Engineer Jevis Mulenga has assured government that his company will tomorrow start to work on areas of concern.Mr. Mulenga explained that the hiccup in the construction of the drainage and sidewalks was because of the new technology from India that was used.
