The construction of the multi-million-dollar Chibombo Multi-facility Economic Zone by China Jiangxi United Industrial Investment is set to start this month just weeks after the Central Province Investment Forum and Expo.
President Edgar Lungu is expected to grace the ground-breaking ceremony for the first phase of the project which will cost 20 million US Dollars.
The industrial park is part of the 300 million US Dollar project which will include the various industries including motor vehicle and generator assembling plants.
And Central Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kabwe who has toured the construction site says the project by the Chinese firm is as a result of the recently held Central Province Investment Forum and Expo and will create more than 2,000 jobs for Zambians.
And Jianxi United Industrial Investment Limited General Manager JIAN Teng Xu said the company is grateful to the Zambian Government particularly the provincial administration for the support towards the project.
And Chibombo council chairperson James Ntalasha said the local authority is glad to become the first major beneficiaries of the Expo which was aimed at marketing the province.
