CONGO DR NEEDS BAIL OUT-SADC

The SADC leadership says there is an urgent need to bail out the people of Democratic Republic of Congo and restore the country on a path of stability and development, following unrest triggered by a disputed presidential election.
SADC Chairperson and Namibian President Hage Geingob says the DRC is at a crossroads, requiring international support to end the political standoff.
Speaking when he officially opened the SADC Double Troika and AU leaders summit to review the DRC political situation at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, President Geingob said the Congolese are waiting and the world is watching.
He said the Security, political, social and economic aspirations of the Congolese people should remain a priority of the region saying DRC has under gone a lot of hardship.
President Edgar Lungu who is the chairperson of the SADC Troika on Politics, Defence and Security is among other Heads of state among them Cyrial Ramaphosa of South Africa attending the emergency summit.
President Lungu on arrival yesterday cautioned against any possible manipulation of the will of the people of the DRC.
President Lungu added that the people of DRC should be allowed to determine their own destiny without undue influence from any one.
The Heads of State have since engaged into a closed door consultative meeting at the AU Headquarters.
