COMMUNITIES FOR  FINANCIAL INCLUSION

Ministry of Finance has called for increased access to financial services in rural communities.

Ministry of Finance Assistant Director, Rural Finance Unit, DERRICK SIMUKOKO says this is cardinal to reducing poverty in rural areas and will subsequently contribute to economic growth and wealth creation in rural communities.

Mr. SIMUKOKO bemoaned that despite rural communities accounting for 60 percent of the country’s population, rural financial services remain underdeveloped.

He says this has contributed to underdevelopment of the financial sector in rural areas.

Mr SIMUKOKO was speaking in Choma during a stakeholder’s consultative meeting on the review of the rural finance policy and strategy.
