He conveyed that the UPND leadership on the Copperbelt, having been engaged since January 2024, is acutely aware of the crucial moments and interactions with the team.
Saunders drew a dramatic contrast between Hichilema’s transformative leadership and previous administrations, framing it as a beacon of hope in the face of an economy allegedly left in disarray by former leaders.
The PNT fervently expressing their allegiance, underscored their commitment to UPND’s visionary path for Zambia’s future.
Their support, deeply rooted in a legacy dating back to Anderson Mazoka’s founding of the party, is portrayed as a testament to their steadfast dedication.
With a cautionary note, Saunders warned of the potential threat posed by the Patriotic Front (PF), labeling them as ineffective. He voiced concerns over possible attempts by the PF to undermine the current administration’s strides toward progress.

As Zambia nears the 2026 elections, PNT’s declaration of support is presented as a powerful reaffirmation of their commitment to Hichilema and the UPND.
The emphasis is placed on vigilance, unity, and strategic action as essential components to maintain the progress achieved under the current administration.
In a heartfelt conclusion, Saunders expressed gratitude to the team, especially the election monitors who, he praised, safeguarded the vote and contributed to the country’s peace and order.
He underscored that ultimate power rests with the people and acknowledged the positive strides of the UPND administration, particularly the transformative impact of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Saunders’ address touched on the need for internal improvements within the party, advocating for transparency and active governance rather than mere rule. He conveyed hope in the PNT’s potential as long as it remains united and dedicated.
He highlighted certain constitutional issues needing attention, citing past grievances and drawing comparisons with other countries’ measures against corruption.
