CHURCH URGED TO PRAY FOR PEACE , UNITY

Muchinga Province Minister HENRY SIKAZWE says it is the duty of the church to pray for peace and unity in the country.

Mr. SIKAZWE says Zambians are living in a critical time where people lack spiritual guidance and counseling.

He says christians are getting involved in activities which have negative effects on their lives as well as impact negatively on development, prosperity and peace of the country.

Mr SIKAZWE said this through the Provincial Deputy Permanent Secretary JONATHAN NG’ONGA during a Home Empowerment Service for Reverend Harrison Silungwe this morning held at the United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Chinsali’s Main Congregation.

The Minister said this is were the church needs to come in, to carry on the work of spearheading and guiding the citizens.

Mr SIKAZWE said government strongly believes that the Church is and will remain a strong partner in adressing challenges christians are facing.

And the Provincial Minister has praised the United Church of Zambia Chinsali main Congregation for embarking on a programme of promoting the welfare of Reverends which resonates well with the church Constitution which allows church members to build a house
or the sitting minister in the UCZ.

Mr. SIKAZWE further assured congregants that government will continue working with the church in it’s programmes being initiated as a way of bringing back sanity and respect in the church and the country at large.

And in his homily, Reverend NEO MALEVU from Bethel Congregation in Chipata District in Eastern Province, appealed to congregants to remain kind and love each other saying God is kind and has never disappointed his children.

Reverend MALEVU added that each individual is the same in the eyes of God.

Meanwhile, Mrs GRACE SILUNGWE has expressed gratitude towards the gesture.

In her vote of thanks, Mrs SILUNGWE further encouraged congregants to continue helping the clergy in any way possible saying Reverends and their families go through many challenges.
