Chongwe Member of Parliament Japhen Mwakalombe is delighted with the early distribution of farming inputs in Chongwe district saying the move will promote food security in the area.
Speaking when he inspected fertilizer depots in Chongwe district today, Mr. Mwakalombe urged farmers in the area to rise to the occasion by producing a bumper harvest in the forth coming farming season.
He also implored the cooperative society within the District to work closely with government officers to produce more food for Chongwe and the entire country.
And Zambia Cooperative Federation Director general James Chirwa said early distribution of inputs has helped farmers to strategically plan before the onset of the runs.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Agriculture Marketing Development officer Namakau Harawa said the district has so far received over 33-thousand bags of Urea fertiliser and 22-thousand bags of D-compound fertilizer.
