Chizongwe storm COPA Coca-Cola tourney semis

CHAMPIONS Chizongwe stormed the semi-finals of the 2016 COPA Coca-Cola Schools football tournament after topping Group A with nine points and were joined in the last four by second placed Ituna.
Mwavi topped Group B on goal difference to set up a semi-final clash against Ituna while Linda have a date against Chizongwe Technical School in today’s games starting at 09:00 hours and 14:00 hours.
Chizongwe finished the group stage tops after beating Kaoma Secondary 1-0 in their last game of the group stage.
The Eastern Province envoys won three games and lost one to Ituna Secondary School of Northern Province, who qualified with eight points after winning two games and drawing two.
To reach the semi-final, Chizongwe beat Nchelenge 2-0, Mine Secondary 2-0 then lost to Ituna 1-0 before recovering to beat Kaoma while Ituna beat Kaoma 3-2 before drawing 0-0 against Mine, and Nchelenge 2-2 prior to upsetting Chizongwe 1-0.
In Group B, it was a tight race after both Mwavi and Linda tied on nine points but the Lusaka Province side topped on goal difference ahead of the Southern Province team.
The road to the last four for Mwavi saw them beat Muchinga 3-0, lost to Chifubu 2-1 then beat both Solwezi and Linda with identical 1-0 while Linda started their campaign with a 2-1 win over Chifubu followed with a 2-0 win over Solwezi and Muchinga 1-0 before losing 1-0 to Mwavi.
