Zanaco Football Club welcomed Green Eagles at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka in a rescheduled MTN/FAZ Super League week two encounter.

For the two teams, it was an opportunity to pick up maximum points after failing to do so in week one. Zanaco lost to Zesco while Green Eagles drew with Kabwe Warriors. Injured Souleymanou Moussa was replaced by Chitiya Mususu who partnered Roger Kola upfront for the bankers meanwhile in-form Eagles Striker Kennedy Musonda couldn’t feature as his loan deal doesn’t allow him to face his parent club Zanaco hence Tapson Kaseba the captain of the day partnered Edward Mwamba upfront.

Zanaco took the lead through Chitiya Mususu in the 11th Minute of the First half with Zanaco maintaining that lead until Half Time. Rodger Kola scored his first goal of the season in the early stages of the second half to Cement a victory and 3 points for the Bankers.

Green Eagles head coach Aggrey Chiyangi does not believe the loss to Zanaco will have a negative impact on his team in their crucial CAF Confederation Cup encounter against Primero de Agosto this Saturday.

“That’s a different game and the approach too, this game has shown us areas that we need massive attention as to fulfill our next fixtures,” he said.

Chiyangi felt his defense did not do enough to stop the goals but also admitted that Zanaco were the better side on the day.

“The goalkeeper Mwange failed to cut the cross which resulted into the goal while the defenders were beaten for pace and resulted into the loss, Nevertheless Zanaco were good today and they deserve the result,” Chiyangi told the ZamFoot Crew.

Green Eagles have now gone two games without a win only managing to collect a point in the first two games of the league. The Kawale Boys will now turn their attention to the CAF Confederation Cup tie against Agosto.
