Chiyangi summons Muwowo and Chitiya for Chipolopolo camp

Chipolopolo caretaker coach Aggrey Chiyangi has summoned 24 players for a local camp in readiness for the 2019 Cosafa Cup to be held in Durban South Africa from May 25 to June 8.

According to the team list made available to the Zamfoot crew by CHIPOLOPOLO Team Manager Desmond M’ngawa, Chiyangi has summoned Forest Rangers in form forward Austin Muwowo and Zanaco striker Chitiya Mususu to the squad that will enter residential camp on Sunday in Lusaka.

Chiyangi has also summoned Zanaco goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata whose last national team assignment was in the Zambia-Namibia AFCON qualifier match in Lusaka. Other goalkeepers summoned are Nkana’s Kelvin Malunga who has been manning the goal for the Kitwe Giants of late and Green Eagles goal minder Sebastian Mwange also making a cut.

Zesco’s defense trio of Simon Silwimba, Clement Mwape and Mwila Phiri have all been summoned to camp. Nkana’s duo of Lyson Thole and Gift Zulu have also been roped in. Green Buffaloes captain Andrian Chama goes into camp as the most experienced as newly signed Zanaco left back Lawrence Chungu returns to the national team fray despite not playing competitive football since switching from Buildcon.

Towering Buildcon defender Isaac Shamujompa has also made the cut following his side’s impressive run in Stream B of the Super League with Kabwe Warriors defense pillar Thandi Mwape also given a chance to prove himself during the three days camp.

The midfielders Called to be part of the team are Power Dynamos’ Benson Sakala, Nkana’s Kelvin Kampamba who has been in top notch form for his side, Forest Rangers’ Webster Muzaza, Red Arrows Captain Bruce Musakanya and Zanaco speedy winger Enerst Mbewe

In the striking department, Chiyangi has summoned enterprising Forest Rangers striker Austin Muwowo who has been in red hot form for the Ndola side, Buildcon captain Moses Phiri and Sensational Zanaco striker Chitiya Mususu who has five goals to his name. Others are Zesco’s goal poacher Lazarus Kambole, Green Eagles’ Tapson Kaseba who has found his scoring boots and Nkwazi’s talisman Emmanuel Chabula.

The players will break camp on Wednesday to feature for their respective clubs before another camp takes off next Sunday.

Zambia will join the competition at the quarterfinal stage where they will clash with the winner of Group B, which includes Mozambique, 2015 winners Namibia, Malawi and Seychelles. The four-time Cosafa Cup champions last lifted the trophy in 2013 on home soil.
