Chiyangi expecting a tougher game against Zimbabwe as Mwase describes loss as painful

Zambia national team Care taker coach Aggrey Chiyangi is expecting an even tougher game when his team takes on the defending Champions, Zimbabwe in the semifinals of the on going COSAFA Cup. Chiyangi was speaking after Zambia secured a hard fought win over Malawi to progress to the semifinals.

Zambia have lost back to back COSAFA Cup finals to Zimbabwe, 3-1 in 2017 and 4-2 in 2018 but Chiyangi says the two loses are a thing of the past because this game will be different.

“We expect a more tougher game against Zimbabwe we know they are playing for AFCON hence it won’t be easy but we are ready for them,” He said.

” We have to forget about the two loses we have had in the finals . This will be a different game .We just have to plan well and make sure we take our chances when we create them. We could have scored two goals in the first half but because of lack of concentration we missed them but when we play Zimbabwe it will be tougher so we have to take our chances ,” He added.

His Counter part Meke Mwase was left disappointed with the result as he felt his team dominated the entire match and did not deserve to lose.

“It is a little bit painful when you know that you dominated the whole game but you end up losing. Maybe maturity on the side of my team but it is football,” He said.

Gabadinho Mhago opened the scores with a close strike just two minutes into the match after a defensive mix up.The Flames doubled their lead five minutes into the second half thanks to a Gerald Phiri penalty after a Zambian defender handled in the box.

Austin Muwowo pulled one back for Zambia seven minutes later with a brilliant strike from outside the box. Malawi goalkeeper Ernest Kakhobwe miscued a Precious Simbani backpass, Tapson Kaseba pounced on the loose ball to set up Chabula for an easy tap in.

Zambia will now face Zimbabwe in the semifinal for a place in the final and a chnace at winning the half a million Rands prize money.
