Chiyangi declares Eagles ready for Gor

Green Eagles head coach Aggrey Chiyangi says he is happy to face a big team like Gor Mahia in the quarter-finals of the ongoing CECAFA Ka game Cup. Chiyangi declared the Kawale Boys ready for their big match up with the Kenyan giants.

Eagles qualified to the quarter-finals after beating Uganda’s Proline two goals to one and finishing second in Group C behind APR. The Eagles boss is, however, cautious of Gor Mahia’s vast continental experience and noted that it is good to face such a team especially for his teams’ upcoming continental engagements.

“It’s a very interesting game we know that we are playing Gor Mahia, they have been playing in continental games for a long time, meaning they have experience. The purpose for us coming here was to make sure we play against the best teams and Gor Mahia is one of the best teams and this will help prepare for the coming CAF competition. I feel happy,” Chiyangi told the ZamFoot Crew.

Gor Mahia was unbeaten throughout the group stages of the competition while eagles secured the second spot thanks to a brace from hitman Kennedy musonda in their final group C match against Ugandan side Proline.

Gor is a big team, especially in East Africa. K’ogalo as they are nicknamed have won the Kenyan premier league a record 18 times and have won the CECAFA Kagame Cup 3 times meanwhile Eagles are participating in the tournament (CECAFA Kagame Cup) for the first time.

Chiyangi and his boys are using the tournament to prepare for the upcoming CAF champion’s league campaign.
