Chipolopolo suffer defeat in Spain

The Zambia national team has started their international friendly matches with a 2-1 loss in the hands of Cameroon. Beston Chambeshi started with six U23 players in a match played in Spain.

Cameroon opened the scoring in the 2nd minute through Wolfsburg striker Ntep de Madiba. Madiba rose above everyone and headed the ball past Nkana goalkeeper Allan Chibwe to make it 1-nil.

Joel Taguel added a second and that proved to be the decisive goal. PSL top scorer and Black Leopards striker Mwape Musonda came to the bench to pull on back but it was not enough to rescue a draw.

The match saw a number of youngsters making a senior debut, Nkwazi left back Kebson Kamanga, Buildcon midfielder Klings Kangwa, Nkana defender Moses Nyondo and Zesco United defender Shemmy Maybe all made their senior national team debut.

Next for the Chipolopolo will be another match against the Gambia on Wednesday.
