A locally assembled Chipolopolo left for South Africa on Tuesday for the 2019 Cosafa Cup.

Zambia, who won her last regional title in 2013 will be hoping bring the title home on June 8.

The Chipolopolo will begin the chase for its fifth Cosafa Cup title on Sunday in the quarter finals.

Coach Aggrey Chiyangi has travelled with a relatively inexperienced side and will be using the tournament to prepare for the CHAN qualifiers.

The team will be captained by Green Buffaloes defender Adrian Chama.

Chama is one of the few experienced players in the team. He made his debut as substitute in the 4-3 defeat to Japan in 2014.

Midfielders Jackson Chirwa, Ernest Mbewe and Bruce Musakanya are the other experienced players in the side.

Green Eagles goalkeeper Sebastian Mwange, Kabwe Warriors’ Thandi Mwape and Clement Mwape of Zesco United are all poised to win their first caps.

Zanaco’s Chitiya ‘The Bishop’ Mususu and Emmanuel Chabula of Nkwazi are some of the inexperienced players in the squad.

Mususu has had a good season having notched in 7 goals and 8 assists while Chabula had 8 goals.

The tournament is being hosted in Durban from May 25 to June 8.

Meanwhile a fully fledged Chipolopolo side is expected to go into camp next week ahead of the friendly matches against Morocco, Gambia and Cameroon.

The team will be coached by Beston ‘Quicksilver’ Chambeshi.
