Chingola Municipal Council embroiled in land wrangles again

IT IS sad that Chingola Municipal Council is again in headlines embroiled in land wrangles with residents.The municipality is now accused of conniving with Ministry of Lands officials in Ndola to demarcate and offer to the general public plots at its Gymkhana area.
The said land has claimants of whom the majority are disabled who claim it was offered to them in 2015.
Some of the demarcated land is believed to actually be on title belonging to Zambians of foreign descent.
Yet the majority of Chingola residents are still waiting for the council to regularise the so many perceived illegal catchments the district approved to have regularised to enable the occupants access social amenities like water and electricity.
The best the council should have done is to exhaust the regularisation process for it to ascertain which land is free for it to advertise to the general public rather than going into people’s titled farms.
