A Chinese construction company AFECC, yesterday donated K50,000 towards the Central province Investment Forum and Expo slated for 8th to 10th October this year.
AFECC is the company engaged to construct the US$ 28.3 million Mwomboshi irrigation scheme in Chisamba district.Contract manager, Kan Jiatao said the company was excited to contribute towards the hosting of the event aimed at contributing to the growth of the country’s economy.
Speaking when he handed over the check, Mr Kan said AFECC was greatful for the support rendered by government and the local community towards the construction of the Mwomboshi irrigation scheme.
He has pledged the company’s support to the government and the successful hosting of the Central province Investment Forum and Expo next month. Receiving the donation, Central province minister, Sydney Mushanga commended AFECC for the donation saying the province was getting closer to the successful hosting of the event because of the support it has continued receiving.
Mr Mushanga said the donations that have been made so far by the parastatal and private companies has reduced the total budget of K8 billion.
He has however appealed to the private led companies to come on board in order to help meet the total budget.
“Am still appealing to the private lead companies to come on board because the budge has not yet been made,” said Mr Mushanga. And Mr Mushanga said government would continue regarding the Chinese people and its government as all weather friends as indicated by President Edgar Lungu during the official opening of the Third session of the Twelfth National Assembly on Friday.
He added that the provincial administration would continue to render support to all Chinese contractors working in the province provided they abide by the laws of the country.
Mr Mushanga said this was cardinal because at the end of the day, they would want to see the lives of the Zambian people transformed through working with Chinese companies and contractors coming into the country. And Mr Mushanga said the provincial administration through the Investment Forum and Expo committee led by permanent secretary, Chanda Kabwe would make a comprehensive report on how much has been raised towards the hosting of the event.
So far companies among them Zamtel Zambia railways, Seed-Co, Mopani and Zaffecks have donated towards the Central Investment Forum and Expo.
