Chinese community console bereaved Zambia

… Heling says Chinese families are happy to provide help to bereaved families because Zambia their second home.

Lusaka (04-04-2023-Zambia24) – The Chinese Association of Zambia (CAZ) has donated a total of 1200 bags of breakfast mealie meals and 500 bottles of cooking oil to the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) valued at 180 000.
Vice President Mutale Nalumango who received the donation commended the donors for the gesture which was donated to alleviate the suffering of the people that faced the calamity in Chilubi Island.

She said the government took over the funeral because the number of people that died in a disaster was unprecedented for the people of the island hand alone.
The NATSAV provided the resources to help the people to lessen the burden of the government and the people.
She thanked the Chinese association for the donation of the mealie meal and cooking oil that will go to help the victims of the accidents on the island
She said the country is still experiencing the calamity that is coming as a result of climate change in many parts of the country.
She said the country will still need more support from all well-wishers and the government will need support such as the one being received.
She said calamities are unforeseen but man-made disasters like what happened, I’m Chilubi should not be allowed to happen.
She advised the transporters that saw 14 people lose their lives to be wary of the dangers of calamities.
She said both natural and man-made disasters are still coming and the government will need to be prepared all the time.
She said no government can shoulder the crisis alone without the support of the stakeholders such as the three organizations that come to support the Chilubi Island accident victims.
She called upon other well-wishers to come on board to support those that are in dire need of support in times of need.

No matter what the disaster Heling said pandemics of accidents happen and urged the people to be, always prepared and alert and keep down to come to know what to do when disaster strikes.

Heling said the donation of 1200 bags of mealie meals and 500 containers of cooking oil to the victims cost the association a total of K180,000.
He thanks other organizers for making similar donation items within a very short period.
He hopes the donation items could be immediately dispatched to the people in need places across Zambia because Zambia is like a second home to us.
He urged the members and fellow countrymen to step off their generous support for the people who need it at this time of difficulty.
He said the Chinese fraternity will always be happy to support and help those experiencing flooding in any way they could.
No one has control over natural disasters, but we do have control over our minds. that does not give up on this challenging kind. loving can wash away everything but it cannot wash away the hope in our hearts.
And National Saving (NATSAV) Chief Executive Officer Malcolm Chabala said the Bank regrets the accident that claimed 14 lives in Lake Bangweulu.
Chilubi Island has been home to NATSAVE for so many years. It has been a dark period for us as the National Savings and Credit Bank (NATSAVE).
Chabala said the Bank feels duty-bound to support the surviving relatives of the accidents on Chilubi Island.

He said the core value of “Customer First” is a guiding principle for the bank to
take up our duty to be actively involved in the lives of the community
around.
It is against this backdrop that the Ba⁶nk decided to help ease the burden of the victims with a donation of K150 000 that will go towards the funeral expenses budget.
He pledged the Bank’s continued support to the people on Chilubi Island because it has the responsibility to assist citizens in times of need.
