China to assist public media

Hector Simfukwe-China has offered to assist Zambia with vehicles and equipment for the public media to enhance their operations.

The Chinese government has also pledged to provide ten thousand facemasks to be distributed to various media houses in boosting the fight against covid-19.

This came to light when Information and Media Minister and Chief Government Spokesperson CHUSHI IKASANDA and Chinese Ambassador to Zambia LI JIE held a virtual meeting in Lusaka.

Ms. KASANDA spoke highly of the longstanding and cordial relations between Zambia and China which have continued to translate into many benefits between the two countries.

She said the Government values the support that China has continued to render to Zambia in the media and other sectors.

Ms KASANDA said the support includes scholarships for Zambian students in communication and media studies at various levels.

The Minister also recalled that China supported Zambia during the struggle for independence.

The Minister thanked China for its support to Zambia in the fight against covid-19 through donations of various equipment and other medical supplies to strengthen the response.

And Mr. LI conveyed his Government’s commitment to enhancing the existing cordial relations with Zambia in various sectors.

He said currently there are over 4-thousand Zambian students studying in China in various sectors and that the Chinese Government plans to increase the number of scholarships for Zambian students this year to study in China.
