Chimwemwe MP challenges nullification of seat

By Hannock Kasama-Patriotic Front-PF member ALLEN BANDA has appealed against the nullification of his election as CHIMWEMWE Member of parliament.

Mr. BANDA has filed the notice and memorandum of appeal in the Constitutional Court.

He said the judge in the lower court erred in law concerning the grounds on which he nullified his election results.

Mr.BANDA has disputed the High court’s findings that the non availability of GEN 20 forms in 30 Polling Stations during the August 12,2021 General election prevented his opponent BORNWELL MATANDA of the United Party for National Development-UPND from verifying results.

He has also disputed the court’s stance that the CHIMWEMWE Parliamentary election were not held in compliance with the Electoral Process Act.

The verdict to nullify the election results for the CHIMWEMWE Parliamentary Seat was delivered in NDOLA recently.

Lusaka High Court Judge BUBILE SHONGA, sitting in NDOLA presided over the matter.
