Chilufya upbeat about U-17 team’s chances

Chansa Kunda-Zambia Under 17 Men’ Football team Coach GEORGE CHILUFYA says the team is focused on opening their 2021 Cosafa campaign with a victory.

The 2020 U-17 COSAFA Cup runners up will on Wednesday the 1st of December 2021 commence their hunt for gold as they take on group A opponents LESOTHO.

And speaking before departure for Lesotho where the players will be taking part in the region in the rescheduled 2020 Region 5 Games , Coach GEORGE CHILUFYA declared his charges ready for the competition .

He said the players have under-gone a three-week intensified camp in prepetition for the competition.

CHILUFYA said 18 players have made the final list with most faces comprising those that took part in the competition lats year while other members are coming from the Under-15 Squad with a few new names infused.

He said the squad selected is credible as most players have the hunger and experience need for the team to compete favorably and start the campaign on a winning note .

CHILUFYA who is Nkana football club assistant Coach said with competition having a tight fixture schedule the players will be psyched so that they can adjust their minds to the flow of the competition.

He further said despite defending Champions South Africa not taking part, competition will still live up to the expectations .

Meanwhile According to information obtained by ZNBC from the COSAFA website The emergence of the Omicron variant and subsequent travel difficulties associated with it have forced another change to the fixtures for the Boys’ and Girls’ football competitions.

COSAFA have posted that both competitions have been shortened, with the Boys to run from December 1st to 7th and the Girls from 2nd to 6th of December 2021 .
