Chilufya nets his third goal for FC Midtjylland

Edward Chilufya was at his impressive best as he helped FC Midtjylland to an emphatic 4-1 win over Silkeborg.

Chilufya scored the opener and set up the third goal in what was arguably his best performance since his switch from Swedish side Djurgådens IF.

The Mphande Youth product started upfront in a 4-3-3 formation in Midtjylland’s penultimate match in the 3F Superliga season.

The visitors new that victory would keep alive their faint hope of overtaking FC Copenhagen, who before the match were six points and 12 goals ahead. At the same time, there was an opportunity to pick up the fourth out of four possible victories against Silkeborg this season.

Chilufya put Midtjylland in the lead seven minutes into the first stanza after being found in space by Anders Dreyer, netting with a well-placed inside finish.

The match kicked into gear in the second half when Mads Døhr Thychosen made it 3-0 with a quick brace within four minutes.

Chilufya was withdrawn in the 78th minute for Brazilian midfielder Charles. Sofascore rated the Zambian international at 8.2 and he had a 65.4% pass rate.

Substitute Juninho rose the highest for Evander’s corner kick and scored his first goal for FCM with a powerful header three minutes before time.

Silkeborg pulled one back but it was a little too late, 4-1 the match finished.

Chilufya returns to action on Sunday, when FC Midtjylland takes on Randers at home at MCH Arena at 17.00

Start XI (3-4-3): David Ousted, Henrik Dalsgaard, Erik Sviatchenko, Daniel Høegh, Joel Andersson, Mads Døhr Thychosen, Evander, Raphael Onyedika, Gustav Isaksen, Edward Chilufya, Anders Dreyer.
