CHILUFYA CALLS FOR INCREASED INSPECTION OF PHARMACIES

Minister of health Chitalu Chilufya has directed the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority -ZAMRA- to escalate inspections of both public and private pharmacies to ensure they dispense valid drugs.
Dr. Chilufya said increased inspection of pharmacies will help curtail the distribution of expired drugs in the country.
He said this when he checked on the construction of the ZMRA head office and Medicines quality control laboratory in Lusaka,
Dr Chilufya said government does not want to compromise when it comes to health service delivery.
The minister has thanked the European Union and other cooperating partners for the support they have continued to render to the growth of the country.
And Head of Cooperation at the European Union delegation to Zambia and COMESA Gianluca Azzoni said the 57-million Kwacha project will enhance the regulation of medicines in the country.
Meanwhile ZAMRA Director General Bernice Mwale said the completion of the facility will enhance the operations of ZAMRA.
