Chilufya allays fears of ‘Kula Mutwe’ outbreak in Kalabo

Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya has allayed fears that a mysterious disease known as Kula Mutwe has broken out in Kalabo District of western province.

Kula Mutwe which is said to having been causing severe headache as the two pallets in the head softens and separate, is reported to have claimed two lives.

But Dr. Chilufya has told Parliament during Questions for Oral Answer, that Kalabo Hospital has not recorded any case of such a disease.

Dr. Chilufya has however revealed that the two deaths referred to were as a result of Central Nevers System Accident otherwise known as stroke and the inflammation of the brain.

He says his ministry has dispatched a technical team to conduct surveillance on the reported disease in the district.

The Health Minister was responding to a question by Kalabo Member of Parliament Chiinga Miyutu who wanted to know if government is aware of the break out of Kula Mutwe disease in his constituency.
