Chililabombwe Council Shuts Down 3 Butcheries

The Chililabombwe Municipal Council has with immediate effect shutdown three butcheries in Kasumbalesa area for failure to meet set health regulations.

Council Assistant Public Relations Manager Chilufya Chungu said the local authority swung into action closing down the three butcheries.

She has named the three butcheries as Dayow Beef, Zam-Zam Halaal Beef and Luscold following an inspection carried out by a team of Public Health Inspectors.

Chungu said the butcheries were operating contrary to the provisions of the Public Health Act Cap 295 and the Food Drugs Act Cap 303 of the Laws of Zambia.

She has emphasised that the three business premises will remain closed until they meet the Public Health minimum requirements.

“Yes i can confirm that we have shut down three butcheries due to a number of issues pertaining to public health, we are concerned with the level of lawlessness being exhibited by some business houses in Kasumbalesa which may end up being a health hazard,” she stated.

Chungu has further noted that the council will continue to conduct random inspections to ensure compliance.
